LG 42LB5D Review

The LG 42LB5D is a 42 inch (measured diagonally) full HDTV. This means that the TV is capable of producing more than two pixels at any given point and time. This is the standard for HDTVs of our time. This great of a pixel density creates a true HD experience. If you've never seen an HDTV utilizing all 2 million of pixels, you are in for a treat with this TV.

The resolution does not guarantee you a perfect picture on a TV. However, there is much more to any TV, including different features such as PiP, or whether or not a TV has a built in tuner, or even the black depth that a tv can reproduce. This TV is lacking in a few areas. For example, the blacks that it tries to reproduce are lacking. In a dark room, any pixel trying to color itself black is going to look more like a grayish hue than anything. In different lighting situations this may or may not be more prevalent. Also, this TV has very bad viewing angles. What this means is when you go left to right looking at your TV, the quality is going to degrade faster at lighter angles on this TV. With higher end TVs, viewing angles become less of an issue.

One of the best pros about this TV is the large amount of ports that it has. The latest and greatest of connectivity options is the HDMI cable. Almost every HD source is going to have an HDMI out. This TV has 3 HDMI connectors, which should be ample for most people. Another great thing about the TV is the styling that it has. Often times, TVs are just plain old ugly to look at (not the picture but the TV itself). This TV is a different story. It has a very sophisticated look that should compliment most homes very well. Whether or not the styling on a TV is pleasing depends solely on the person viewing the TV. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. However, this TV has an above-average look for the majority of people. All in all, this 42 inch HDTV is a great choice for many people to purchase. It's able to reproduce the highest commercially available resolution. It has many ports that should satisfy most. Get this TV if these specs suit you!
